A double intercritical annealing strategy is proposed to tailor the multiphase microstructure and mechanical response of a medium‐Mn steel. The treatment produces an ultrafine mixture of ferrite, martensite and multiple austenite populations with graded thermal and mechanical stability, formed through austenite reversion and controlled retransformation.

Stress corrosion cracking evaluation of martensitic precipitation hardening stainless steels [PDF]
The resistance of the martensitic precipitation hardening stainless steels PH13-8Mo, 15-5PH, and 17-4PH to stress corrosion cracking was investigated. Round tensile and c-ring type specimens taken from several heats of the three alloys were stressed up ...

Influence of thermomechanical treatment on the microstructure and mechanical properties of 12% -cr ferritic-martensitic steel EK-181 [PDF]
The features of microstructure and mechanical properties of the EK-181 ferritic-martensitic steel after high-temperature thermomechanical treatment with deformation in the austenite region are investigated.

Enhanced granular medium-based tube press hardening
Active and passive control strategies of internal pressure for hot forming of tubes and profiles with granular media are described. Force transmission and plastic deformation of granular medium is experimentally investigated.

Elemental redistribution during coprecipitation of kappa (κ)‐type and B2 precipitates in an Al‐alloyed lightweight steel is revealed by atom probe tomography (APT) and density functional theory (DFT). Fe and Ni redistribution promotes the evolution of B2 phase from NiAl‐type toward FeAl‐type and improves the stability of κ and B2 phases during ...

Paint baking of resistance spot welded joints of 2.0 GPa warm‐stamped medium‐Mn steel activates low‐temperature tempering, forming fine cementite in the fusion zone and enhancing toughness. Crack propagation resistance increases, shifting the failure mode from partial interfacial to complete pullout, with peak load and energy absorption rising ...

This review explains how impurities from recycled scrap affect steel production and performance. Even small amounts (far below 1%) of these impurities can change how steel behaves during fabrication but also affect the properties of the end product. With better understanding and targeted countermeasures, these challenges can be managed, enabling wider ...
