Effect of lattice mismatch-induced strains on coupled diffusive and displacive phase transformations
Materials which can undergo slow diffusive transformations as well as fast displacive transformations are studied using the phase-field method. The model captures the essential features of the time-temperature-transformation (TTT) diagrams, continuous ...

By integrating simulations and experiments, the preferred (001) crystallographic texture promotes reversible martensite formation through variant selection, enhancing both superelastic and elastocaloric performance. This work provides fundamental guidelines for designing high‐efficiency NiTi‐based functional materials. Abstract Developing elastocaloric

The findings presented in this manuscript recommend the Ti‐22Zr‐11Nb‐2Sn alloy as a possible alternative to Nitinol for use in biomedical devices, especially in the large‐scale manufacturing of self‐expandable vascular stents used in angioplasty. ABSTRACT Nowadays, for applications such as coronary stents, the most widely used materials are Nitinol or ...

Displacive model of deformation twinning in hexagonal close-packed metals. Case of the (90 deg, a) and (86 deg, a) extension twins in magnesium [PDF]
A crystallographic displacive model is proposed for the extension twins in magnesium. It is based on a hard-sphere assumption previously used for martensitic transformations.

The corrosion performance of X12CrMoWVNbN10‐1‐1 steel in chloride environments dramatically depends on pH. Acidic conditions trigger intense surface degradation, whereas neutral and alkaline media foster the formation of a compact and stable passive film, drastically reducing both general and localized corrosion.

Transforming martensite in NiTi within nanoseconds
Martensitic transformations enable various emerging applications like the shape memory effect and elastocaloric applications in NiTi. Increasing the speed of this transformation can shorten the response time for actuation and increase the power density ...

Martensitic transformation induced by cold deformation of lean duplex stainless steel UNS S32304 [PDF]
Lean duplex UNS S32304 is an austenitic ferritic stainless steel with pitting resistance equivalent number around 24-25. Its corrosion resistance is similar to AISI 316L steel, but with the advantage of a yield limit two times superior to conventional ...
