Semantic Segmentation of Martian Landforms with Sparse Scribble Annotations Using a Pseudo-Labeling Strategy [PDF]

open access: yesThe International Archives of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences
Deep learning-based semantic segmentation techniques play a crucial role in the rapid mapping of Martian landforms. However, creating an annotated dataset for Martian landforms is a labor-intensive and time-consuming process.

Perchlorates on Mars enhance the bacteriocidal effects of UV light

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Perchlorates have been identified on the surface of Mars. This has prompted speculation of what their influence would be on habitability. We show that when irradiated with a simulated Martian UV flux, perchlorates become bacteriocidal.

Simultaneous Two‐Point Study of the Martian Bow Shock Affected by an Interplanetary Coronal Mass Ejection: Tianwen‐1 and MAVEN Observations

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
The Martian bow shock (BS) plays a significant role in the Martian plasma environment. Based on observations from Tianwen‐1 and MAVEN, we first report two cases of simultaneous two‐point crossings of the Martian BS affected by an interplanetary coronal ...

Rapid Response of Martian Magnetotail to Solar Wind Disturbance: Tianwen‐1 and MAVEN Joint Observations

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
The Martian magnetotail is largely controlled by the solar wind (SW) and is modulated by variations in the upstream drivers. However, due to the limitations of single‐spacecraft observations, the effects of SW variations on the Martian magnetotail have ...
