We present a case in which self-treatment of lichen sclerosus with large doses of topical testosterone resulted in marked masculinization and may have caused secondary amenorrhea. These changes have not previously been reported as side effects of topical testosterone use.

Men and masculinities: Scales for masculinity ideology and masculinity-related constructs
Sex Roles, 1992This review evaluates 11 masculinity ideology measures that examine attitudes toward men and masculinities and 6 instruments for other masculinity-related constructs. Four conclusions regarding the available measures and the future development of instrumentation in the area are drawn from the review.

The question of masculinity lies at the heart of masterpieces of Renaissance art, philosophy, and literature. Proscriptive and prescriptive literature formed a discourse of ideal fathers, priests, courtiers, and warriors, and these ideals were then reified in fictional texts as well as in pigment and marble.
