Ecology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 5, May 2026.This study addresses the ecological role of coarse woody debris (CWD) as a thermally buffered microhabitat for saproxylic organisms in temperate eastern US forests. We measured internal and external log temperatures across four seasons in Southern Appalachian forests to test how log diameter, decay stage, and moisture influence thermal buffering.

The Investigation of Helicon Maser
