Simplified Macro-Model for Infill Masonry Panels

Journal of Earthquake Engineering, 2010
In structural analyses, masonry infill walls are commonly considered to be non structural elements. However, the response of reinforced concrete buildings to earthquake loads can be substantially affected by the influence of infill walls. In this article, an improved numerical model for the simulation of the behavior of masonry infill walls subjected ...

DRIFT-BASED FRAGILITY ASSESSMENT OF MASONRY INFILLS

Proceedings of the 6th International Conference on Computational Methods in Structural Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering (COMPDYN 2015), 2017
Masonry infills represent one of the prevailing types of non-structural elements in buildings of both Western and Eastern modern architecture. Recent seismic events have provided evidence that damage on masonry infills can lead not only to large economic losses but also to significant injuries and even fatalities.

Recent Results on Masonry Infill Walls

Advanced Materials Research, 2010
The paper summarizes the main research findings on masonry infill walls which were obtained within the framework of a comprehensive NSF-NEESR-SG project directed by Prof. Benson Shing at UC San Diego (Shing et al. 2009). The main focus of this contribution are experimental and computational observations on 2/3 scale unreinforced masonry panels ...

Behaviour of masonry infilled steel frames

Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering, 1989
Masonry shear panels used as infilling in steel frames are investigated experimentally. Twenty-eight large-scale specimens were tested to ultimate panel strength under in-plane, horizontal loading applied at roof level. Of the parameters varied in the test series, interface conditions between panel edges and frame were found to significantly affect ...

Transverse Resistance of Masonry Infills

ACI Structural Journal, 2010
In this paper, a confined infill panel previously experimented under out-of-plane loading is modeled and analyzed by the dynamic explicit method (DEM). This method is shown to have a good estimation of the experimental results, and is thus adopted to investigate the out-of-plane behavior of an infill model.

MID1.0: Masonry Infilled RC Frame Experimental Database

2018
Experimental campaigns are a key tool for the evaluation of the behaviour of Masonry Infilled Reinforced Concrete (RC) frames. The case of masonry infills in RC frames is also a regional feature making the homogenous classification for a database a real challenge. This first attempt of a Masonry Infill Database (MID) includes a preliminary selection of

Multi-platform modelling of masonry infilled frames

Journal of Building Engineering, 2021
Abstract This paper presents a multi-platform simulation method for the modelling of reinforced concrete infilled frames . The method is developed for multi-scale modelling, where the frame is modelled in detail by two-dimensional elements while the infill wall is represented by equivalent struts.

Seismic evaluation of reinforced concrete structures infilled with masonry infill walls

Asian Journal of Civil Engineering, 2019
The current research work aims to investigate the seismic performance of the reinforced concrete structures fully, as well as, partially infilled with masonry infill (MI) walls. For that, a numerical study of three groups of two-dimensional framed structure has been conducted under dynamic time–history analysis. The three building groups are classified
