Transverse Resistance of Masonry Infills
ACI Structural Journal, 2010In this paper, a confined infill panel previously experimented under out-of-plane loading is modeled and analyzed by the dynamic explicit method (DEM). This method is shown to have a good estimation of the experimental results, and is thus adopted to investigate the out-of-plane behavior of an infill model.

Differentiation between the terms ”confined masonry“ and ”infill masonry“
Mauerwerk, 2018AbstractThis publication concerns the differentiation between the terms ”confined masonry“ and ”infill masonry“ using the example of the national technical approval Z‐17.1‐1145 – POROTON S9 MW –vertically perforated clay units with integrated thermal insulation using thin layer mortar [1].

EARTHQUAKE RESPONSE OF MASONRY INFILLED PRECAST CONCRETE STRUCTURES
2006In design of precast concrete structures, frames are generally assumed to be two dimensional and analysed accordingly without taking into account participation of infill walls. However, it is well known that, the infill walls increase lateral stiffness and load carrying capacity of the frame structures. The objective of this study is to investigate the

Bulletin of Earthquake Engineering, 2018
A wide number of experimental studies conducted in latest years pointed out the high influence of the mechanical properties of masonry units and mortar bed joints on lateral strength and stiffness of masonry panels. This feature significantly modifies the global response of infilled frames under seismic actions as well as the local interaction ...

Seismic evaluation of reinforced concrete structures infilled with masonry infill walls
Asian Journal of Civil Engineering, 2019The current research work aims to investigate the seismic performance of the reinforced concrete structures fully, as well as, partially infilled with masonry infill (MI) walls. For that, a numerical study of three groups of two-dimensional framed structure has been conducted under dynamic time–history analysis. The three building groups are classified

DAMAGE ASSESSMENT OF MASONRY INFILLED FRAMES
2014There are many different parameters that affect the behavior of masonry-infilled reinforced concrete frames under earthquake loadings and it is difficult to predict. Selection of the parameters, that have the greatest impact on the response system, was carried out on the EDIF database of 113 one- storey one- bay infilled frame tests processed by ...

Analytical modeling of masonry infills with openings
Structural Engineering and Mechanics, 2009In order to perform a step-by-step force-displacement response analysis or dynamic timehistory analysis of large buildings with masonry infilled R/C frames, a continuous force-deformation model based on an equivalent strut approach is proposed for masonry infill panels containing openings.

RETROFIT OF MASONRY INFILLS: LOCAL INTERACTION WITH RC FRAMES
2020The achievement of code-based performance criteria in existing reinforced concrete buildings is often gained through different retrofit techniques aimed at improving the seismic behavior of both structural members and non-structural elements, such as infill walls. Focusing on masonry infill walls, state-of-art strengthening techniques are often adopted

Modeling of Masonry Infill Panels for Structural Analysis
Journal of Structural Engineering, 1997An analytical macromodel based on an equivalent strut approach integrated with a smooth hysteretic model is proposed for representing masonry infill panels in nonlinear analysis of frame structures. The hysteresis model uses degrading control parameters for stiffness and strength degradation and slip “pinching” that can be implemented to replicate a ...

Strengthening of Infill Masonry Walls with FRP Materials
Journal of Composites for Construction, 2011This paper evaluates the effectiveness of different externally bonded glass fiber–reinforced polymer (GFRP) systems for increasing the out-of-plane resistance of infill masonry walls to loading. The research included a comprehensive experimental program comprising 14 full-scale specimens, including four unstrengthened (control) specimens and 10 ...
