Statics and Reliability of Masonry Structures

1991
In this chapter, a mechanical model for masonry structures is introduced. Specifically, it is assumed that masonry can be idealized as a particular kind of “no-tension” material. The expected agreement of the model with the real behaviour of masonry buildings is discussed.

Corrosion in masonry structures

2015
The mechanism of corrosion of metals when embedded in masonry structures (mainly iron and steel) is different from that of steel in concrete. The latter involves reinforcing steel and this is usually protected from corrosion for many years in good-quality, high-alkalinity concrete.
