Effect of long‐term loading and fire temperatures on mechanical properties of concrete

open access: yesJournal of Civil Engineering and Management, 2005
During a fire, reinforced concrete structures are exposed to high temperatures and subjected to long‐term action of variable and permanent loads.

Collapse mechanism analysis of historic masonry structures subjected to lateral loads: A comparison between continuous and discrete models

open access: yesComputers & structures, 2019
The aim of this paper is to show to what extent a simple constitutive model can adequately describe the collapse mechanisms of historic masonry structures under horizontal seismic loads.

TRM‐to‐concrete interface bond without anchors: Combined experimental, analytical, and numerical modeling approach

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract Textile reinforced mortar (TRM) systems have emerged as an effective alternative to conventional FRP strengthening solutions due to their compatibility with concrete substrates and favorable performance under adverse environmental conditions.

Near-Surface-Mounted CFRP Ropes as External Shear Reinforcement for the Rehabilitation of Substandard RC Joints

open access: yesBuildings
The effectiveness of an innovative retrofit scheme using near-surface-mounted (NSM) X-shaped CFRP ropes for the strengthening of substandard RC beam–column joints was investigated experimentally.

Post‐earthquake field assessment and damage correlation of elevated reinforced concrete water tanks in Kahramanmaras/Elbistan, Türkiye

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract This study evaluates the seismic performance of elevated reinforced concrete (RC) water tanks in the Elbistan region following the February 6, 2023 Kahramanmaras–Elbistan earthquakes. Field investigations, visual damage surveys, non‐destructive testing (ultrasonic pulse velocity—UPV), concrete compressive strength measurements, peak ground ...

Determination of unit characteristics of concrete linear creep/Betono tiesinio valkšnumo vienetinių rodiklių nustatymas

open access: yesJournal of Civil Engineering and Management, 2000
It is very important to take into account time-dependent non-elastic deformations and variation of concrete mechanical characteristics in analysis of concrete structures.

Analytical Derivation of Seismic Fragility Curves for Historical Masonry Structures Based on Stochastic Analysis of Uncertain Material Parameters

open access: yesInternational Journal of Architectural Heritage, 2019
This work presents a probabilistic method to assess the seismic vulnerability of historical masonry structures, such as churches or cathedrals, including uncertainty analysis of the material parameters.

‘Enthusiasts’ and ‘Fanatics’: The Decembrists as a Case Study in French Influence on Russian Culture, Emotions and Thought

open access: yesHistory, EarlyView.
Abstract Participants in Russia's 1825 Decembrist uprising against the Tsarist regime were, quite literally, a case study in French cultural influence upon Russia. This is particularly true as it relates to Russia's emotional cultures. Although this has not, traditionally, been the primary focus of historical analysis of this event (in Soviet or ...

A New Model of Feeding Biomechanics Based on Tied‐Arch Principles

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
This new biomechanical model explains the major stress and strain patterns generated through the cranium during biting. The model proposes that the cranium resolves bite‐induced reaction forces through arcs of compressive stress that span the cranial structure between biting teeth and both jaw joints.

Assessing external threats to structures using limited statistical data: An approach based on data resampling

open access: yesTechnological and Economic Development of Economy, 2007
The paper deals with an estimation of risk to structures posed by extreme, dangerous phenomena called in brief the external threats. It is considered how to calculate risk values when a limited amount of data on actions imposed by these phenomena is ...
