Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Effect of Shell Thickness on Electron and Hole Transmission Probabilities of a ZnSe/ZnS Core- Shell Quantum Dot [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2018
In this paper we report the effect of shell thickness on transmission probabilities of electrons and holes in the strained configuration of zinc-selenide/zinc-sulphide (ZnSe/ZnS) core-shell quantum dot.

Pattern formation during the evaporation of a colloidal nanoliter drop: a numerical and experimental study

open access: yes, 2010
An efficient way to precisely pattern particles on solid surfaces is to dispense and evaporate colloidal drops, as for bioassays. The dried deposits often exhibit complex structures exemplified by the coffee ring pattern, where most particles have ...

CDK11 inhibition induces cytoplasmic p21WAF1 splice variant by p53 stabilisation and SF3B1 inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.

An Adapted Rotating Disk Electrode Setup to Test Nonstandard‐Disk Electrodes: On the Enhanced Hydrogen Evolution Performance of Model Dewetted Pt Nanoparticles Versus Pt Thin Films under Hydrodynamic Conditions

open access: yesChemElectroChem
A common approach to test electrocatalyst nanoparticles (NPs) for electrolyzers and fuel cells is to deposit catalyst particles (e.g., Pt/carbon) onto standard disk electrodes (e.g., glassy carbon) by making use of inks based on binders (ionomers such as

A Channel Network Model for Sediment Dynamics Over Watershed Management Time Scales

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems, 2020
A mountain watershed network model is presented for use in decadal to centurial estimation of source‐to‐sink sediment dynamics. The model requires limited input parameters and can be effectively applied over spatial scales relevant to management of ...

Experimental Study on Aerosol Removal Characteristics from Wall Surfaces in Condensation Wash-down Environment

open access: yesYuanzineng kexue jishu, 2023
For the nuclear reactor that experienced a severe radioactive leakage accident, there will be radioactive aerosols dispersed in vapor phase space of the containment vessel.

Numerical simulation of colloidal dispersion filtration: description of critical flux and comparison with experimental results [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
During filtration via membrane processes, colloids accumulate at the porous surface leading to fouling phenomena. In this study, a rigorous simulation of momentum and mass transfer using CFD modelling has been developed to describe such an accumulation ...

A two-layer shallow flow model with two axes of integration, well-balanced discretization and application to submarine avalanches [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
We propose a two-layer model with two different axes of integration and a well-balanced finite volume method. The purpose is to study submarine avalanches and generated tsunamis by a depth-averaged model with different averaged directions for the fluid ...

Class IIa HDACs forced degradation allows resensitization of oxaliplatin‐resistant FBXW7‐mutated colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
HDAC4 is degraded by the E3 ligase FBXW7. In colorectal cancer, FBXW7 mutations prevent HDAC4 degradation, leading to oxaliplatin resistance. Forced degradation of HDAC4 using a PROTAC compound restores drug sensitivity by resetting the super‐enhancer landscape, reprogramming the epigenetic state of FBXW7‐mutated cells to resemble oxaliplatin ...
