Geohazard features of the Central Apulia

open access: yesJournal of Maps
The study area, mapped in the frame of the Magic project (MArine Geohazard along Italian Coasts) encompasses a complex continental slope characterised by a variety of extensive mass-transport deposits, seafloor-dissecting faults (Gondola deformation belt)

Insight into the dynamics of a long-runout mass movement using single-grain feldspar luminescence in the Pokhara Valley, Nepal [PDF]

open access: yesGeochronology
Mass movements play an important role in landscape evolution of high mountain areas such as the Himalayas. Yet, establishing numerical age control and reconstructing transport dynamics of past events is challenging.

Structural constraints on the subduction of mass-transport deposits in convergent margins [PDF]

open access: yesGeological Society, London, Special Publications, 2020
Abstract The subduction of large and heterogeneous mass-transport deposits (MTDs) is discussed to modify the structure and physical state of the plate boundary and therewith exert an influence on seismicity in convergent margins. Understanding which subduction-zone architectures and structural boundary conditions favour the subduction of MTDs,

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

Hydrodynamic Constraints on Ore Formation by Basin‐Scale Fluid Flow at Continental Margins: Modelling Zn Metallogenesis in the Devonian Selwyn Basin

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, 2021
The clastic‐dominant (CD‐type) deposits that are contained within sedimentary basins are major resources of Zn, Pb and Ag, but their formation by basin‐scale hydrothermal mass and energy transport processes is still poorly understood.

Meso-Scale Kinematic Indicators in Exhumed Mass Transport Deposits: Definitions and Implications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In this study we combine observations and analytical data from large-scale (10-100s of m-thick and 100 m(2)-extensive), siliciclastic and carbonate MTD/MTCs belonging to the Oligocene - Miocene foredeep and wedge-top successions of the Northern Apennines and the Paleocene - Eocene Friuli basin of the northwestern Dinarides (Italy and Slovenia), to ...

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Identification of Mass Transport Deposits and Insights into Gas Hydrate Accumulation in the Qiongdongnan Sea Area, Northern South China Sea

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Accurately identifying the Bottom Simulating Reflector (BSR) is a crucial and fundamental task in seismic exploration and the interpretation of gas hydrates in marine areas.

Substrate Entrainment, Depositional Relief, and Sediment Capture: Impact of a Submarine Landslide on Flow Process and Sediment Supply

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2021
Submarine landslides can generate complicated patterns of seafloor relief that influence subsequent flow behaviour and sediment dispersal patterns. In subsurface studies, the term mass transport deposits (MTDs) is commonly used and covers a range of ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.
