A one-dimensional axisymmetric model for time-varying electromagnetic mitigation of plasma for alleviation of radio communication blackout

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2018
A high speed vehicle passing through the atmosphere may encounter radio communication blackout, a phenomenon which is caused by the high plasma density in the plasma layer surrounding the vehicle.

A Worm‐Inspired Origami Robot with Multimodal Locomotion for Adaptive Mobility in Complex Pipeline Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An origami worm‐inspired robot achieves multimodal locomotion in confined pipelines through mechatronic integration that embeds actuation, control, and communication within each origami module. Large, reversible configuration and dimensional changes enable 25 gaits synthesized by a unified framework across peristaltic, inchworm, and wheel‐rolling modes

Toward Long‐Term Reliable Human‐Machine Interaction: A Flexible, Breathable, and Self‐Powered Pressure Sensor System With Firefighting Validation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work develops a breathable potentiometric self‐powered pressure sensor with good wearability, using a non‐woven fabric substrate and hydrogel electrolyte. The sensor is integrated into a five‐channel smart glove to acquire reliable hand motion signals, which are processed by a CNN for identity verification and smart vehicle control in human ...

Bounds on quantum communication via Newtonian gravity

open access: yes, 2014
Newtonian gravity yields specific observable consequences, the most striking of which is the emergence of a $1/r^2$ force. In so far as communication can arise via such interactions between distant particles, we can ask what would be expected for a ...

V2CTx MXene as a Sacrificial Promoter for NiFe Catalyst for Anion Exchange Membrane Electrolyzers

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
These findings demonstrate that V2CTx functions beyond passive conductive support as an active electronic participant whose structural legacy sustains durable performance even after vanadium leaching in Anion Exchange Membrane (AEM) Electrolysers. ABSTRACT Nickel‐iron layered double hydroxides (NiFe‐LDH) show excellent activity, their poor conductivity

Proxy of democracy? : metaphors of connection as arguments against representation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper aims to assess the arguments that claim representative democracy may be enhanced or replaced by an updated electronic version. Focusing on the dimension of elections and electioneering as the core mechanism of representative democracy I will ...

Dielectric‐Confinement‐Induced in‐Plane Photoelectric Anisotropy in Isotropic Quasi‐1D γ‐GaS Nanoribbon

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We investigate the geometry‐governed optoelectronic anisotropy arising from dielectric confinement in quasi‐1D γ‐GaS nanoribbons with intrinsically isotropic atomic structures. Dielectric mismatch between the nanoribbon and its surroundings leads to a general polarization‐dependent photoresponse during near‐field scattering.
