Mapping Hsp104 interactions using cross‐linking mass spectrometry
This study examines how cross‐linking mass spectrometry can be utilized to analyze ATP‐induced conformational changes in Hsp104 and its interactions with substrates. We developed an analytical pipeline to distinguish between intra‐ and inter‐subunit contacts within the hexameric homo‐oligomer and discovered contacts between Hsp104 and a selected ...

By using an electrical pulse stimulation (EPS)‐based in vitro exercise model and chemical activation/inhibition of mechanosensitive Piezo1 channels, we explored changes in protein synthetic response in cultured C2C12 myotubes. Our data showed that application of Piezo1 activator (Yoda1) during EPS significantly enhances the rate of protein synthesis in

Mass media competition and alternative ordering in social dynamics [PDF]
We investigate the collective behavior of a system of social agents subject to the competition between two mass media influences considered as external fields. We study under what conditions either of two mass media with different intensities can impose its message to the majority.

Alkane biosynthesis gene expression and its increased production in recombinant cyanobacteria
The transcription and mRNA structures of the alkane biosynthesis genes ado/aar were analysed in the representative cyanobacteria PCC 6803 and SK1‐2‐1, which produce C17H36 and C15H32, respectively. PCC 6803 transconjugants carrying these genes showed a 1.8‐ to 2.3‐fold increase in C17H36 production.

Analysing occupational safety culture through mass media monitoring [PDF]
In the last years, a group of researchers within the National Institute for Insurance against Accidents at Work (INAIL) has launched a pilot project about mass media monitoring in order to find out how the press deal with the culture of safety and health

Heterologous expression of membrane transporters in cultured cells is essential for functional characterization, but is sometimes limited by low activity. Our study compares the HDAC inhibitors butyrate, VPA and SAHA to enhance transport activity. We propose to replace butyrate by SAHA: it is equally effective, devoid of repulsive odor, costs less, and

SLC7A11 frequently migrates faster in SDS‐PAGE. The present study found that the high hydrophobicity of SLC7A11 causes its anomalous migration in SDS‐PAGE with a low concentration of acrylamide gel. Replacing isoleucine with asparagine reduced hydrophobicity and restored its normal migration at 55 kDa, revealing the role of hydrophobicity and gel ...
