Morbillivirus in monk seal mass mortality [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1997
We have identified a morbillivirus in organs of Mediterranean monk seals (Monachus monachus), lost during a recent mass die-off. About half of the population of this highly endangered species, which inhabits the Mauritanian coast of West Africa (Cap Blanc), were killed.
