Identification of metabolites of adonifoline, a hepatotoxic pyrrolizidine alkaloid, by liquid chromatography/tandem and high-resolution mass spectrometry

open access: yes, 2009
Hepatotoxic pyrrolizidine alkaloid (HPA)-containing plants have always been a threat to human and livestock health worldwide. Adonifoline, a main HPA in Senecio scandens Buch.-Ham. ex D.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Commission on the Prevention of Weapons of Mass Destruction Proliferation and Terrorism

open access: yes, 2008
The creation of the Commission, which was established by House Resolution 1, implements a key recommendation of the independent, bipartisan 9/11 Commission to address the grave threat that the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction poses to our ...

Sequencing and Identification of Endogenous Neuropeptides with Matrix-Enhanced Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry Tandem Mass Spectrometry

open access: yes, 2017
Matrix-enhanced secondary ion mass spectrometry (ME-SIMS) has overcome one of the biggest disadvantages of SIMS analysis by providing the ability to detect intact biomolecules at high spatial resolution. By increasing ionization efficiency and minimizing

Mass spectrometry based identification of AMP‐O‐Tris generated by Thermococcus onnurineus Cas10

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Isolated Thermococcus onnurineus Cas10 generates the noncanonical ATP‐derived product AMP‐O‐Tris while in Tris‐containing buffer as identified via mass spectrometry, revealing relaxed nucleophile selectivity under isolated conditions. These findings suggest that multiprotein Csm complex assembly restricts Cas10 reactivity toward canonical cyclic ...

Fragmentation and Dijet Mass Resolution

open access: yes, 2004
At the LHC the overlap of minimum bias events and the jet energy deposits in a calorimeter causes a degradation in the dijet mass resolution. Guided by QCD, a judicious set of cuts can be developed to mitigate this degradation.

Pharmacological inhibition of the PERK pathway modulates hepatocellular carcinoma growth and immune signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

Ultralong transients enhance sensitivity and resolution in Orbitrap-based single-ion mass spectrometry [PDF]

open access: yes
Orbitrap-based charge detection mass spectrometry utilizes single-molecule sensitivity to enable mass analysis of even highly heterogeneous, high-mass macromolecular assemblies.

Imaging Single-Chain Nanoparticle Folding via High-Resolution Mass Spectrometry

open access: yes, 2016
Herein, we introduce the first approach to map single-chain nanoparticle (SCNP) folding via high-resolution electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI MS) coupled with size exclusion chromatography.

RoundMi: A quantitative method to analyze mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
RoundMi is a workflow for rapid analysis of mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells. By combining adaptive preprocessing with automated segmentation and quantification, it enables accurate measurements from single focal plane images, reducing acquisition time and computational demands while remaining compatible with high‐throughput fixed and live ...
