A mass spectrometer mass marker

Journal of Scientific Instruments, 1958
An instrument has been constructed which utilizes the galvano-magnetic effect in bismuth to measure the field strength of a mass spectrometer magnet, and hence to determine the masses of peaks as they occur when the spectrum is scanned by variation of the magnetic field strength at constant accelerating voltage.

Coupling a quadrupole mass spectrometer and a Fourier transform mass spectrometer

International Journal of Mass Spectrometry and Ion Processes, 1985
Abstract Experiments performed by the authors during the last year have demonstrated the feasibility of a new analytical instrument called a tandem quadrupole-Fourier transform mass spectrometer (QFT-MS). Ions made in the source of a quadrupole mass spectrometer are extracted and focused into a beam.

Mass spectrometer.

2002
A mass spectrometer comprising means for directing a stream of analyte species from a sample to an energy resolving detector, the analyte species traveling at a known speed, wherein the energy resolving detector is arranged to measure the kinetic energy of the species, thereby allowing the masses of the species to be detd. [on SciFinder (R)]

A Miniature Particle Mass Spectrometer

Analytical Chemistry, 2019
Microparticles play important roles in our life. Besides chemical compositions and morphology, the size of microparticles will also decide their behavior in the environment or in organisms. Weighing the mass of microparticles by mass spectrometry is a useful method to characterize their size.

Mass spectrometer for respiratory research

Respiratory Physiology & Neurobiology, 2010
The mass spectrometer is the ideal gas analyser for many applications in respiratory research. A number of companies which manufactured mass spectrometers suitable for use in respiratory research have long since ceased production. Two modifications in the presently manufactured MAX300-LG (Extrel, Pittsburgh, PA, USA) have made it suitable for studying ...

Advances in microfabricated mass spectrometers

Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry, 2008
Mass filters for miniature mass spectrometers are now being constructed using three-dimensional microfabrication techniques. Crossed-field, travelling-wave, time-of-flight, quadrupole and cylindrical ion-trap filters have all been demonstrated, with steadily increasing mass range and mass resolution.

Mass Spectrometers for the Analysis of Biomolecules

2005
Mass spectrometry (MS) has become a vital enabling technology in the life sciences. This chapter summarizes the fundamental aspects of MS, with reference to topics such as isotopic abundance and accurate mass and resolution. A broad and comprehensive overview of the instrumentation, techniques, and methods required for the analysis of biomolecules is ...
