FORMATION OF IONS A mass spectrometer works with electrically charged particles and, before a mass spectrum can be obtained, the substance under examination must be ionized if it is not already ionic. Most research into mass spectrometry has been carried out on positive ions and these are discussed in detail.

Field desorption mass spectrum of glucagon
Biological Mass Spectrometry, 1976A low resolution, high sensitivity study has been made of the field desorption mass spectrum of glucagon, a 29 amino acid residue underivatized peptide. The highest molecular weight fragments observed, when spectra were taken under conditions which minimized surface reactions of the peptide on the emitter, were found to contain no more than 18 amino ...

Mass spectrum of the strange dibaryon
Physical Review D, 1988Based on the diquark-cluster model, the mass spectrum of low-lying S=-1 strange dibaryons is predicted. In this scheme, two ${J}^{P}$${=0}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$ states with I=(1/2 and (3/2 are degenerate at the lowest-energy level, around 2.2 GeV c.m. energy.

Sequence-to-sequence translation from mass spectra to peptides with a transformer model
bioRxivA fundamental challenge for any mass spectrometry-based proteomics experiment is the identification of the peptide that generated each acquired tandem mass spectrum.
