Counter-current mass transfer

open access: yesInternational Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 1985
A simple model for a counter-current mass transfer device is analysed asymptotically in certain parameter regimes. By using some recent results about eigenfunction expansions, explicit formulae are found for the efficiency of the device in terms of numbers of theoretical plates.

Mass Loss and Mass Transfer in Algols [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 1980
We have examined the observational data of 60 Algols in order to check some theoretical views on mass loss and mass transfer in Algols. Not negligible contradictions between some theoretical non-conservative attempts and the observational scenario have been emphasized.

Mass Transfer in a Geologic Environment [PDF]

open access: yesMRS Proceedings, 1984
AbstractA new analytical solution is presented that predicts the rate of dissolution of species from a waste package surrounded by a wet porous medium. By equating the rate of diffusive mass transfer into the porous rock to the rate of liquid-surface chemical reaction, an analytical solution for the timedependent dissolution rate and the time-dependent

Ignition Delay and Reaction Time Measurements of Hydrogen–Air Mixtures at High Temperatures

open access: yesFire
Induction and reaction times of hydrogen–air mixtures (ϕ = 0.5–2) have been measured behind reflected shock waves at temperatures of 1000–1600 K, pressures of 0.1, 0.3, 0.6 MPa in the domain of the extended second explosion limit.

Proton Transfer Reaction Mass Spectrometry

open access: yesJournal of the Mass Spectrometry Society of Japan, 2022
We are all familiar with the common constituents of air, such as nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide and water vapour. However, air is actually a complex mixture consisting of a wide variety of inorganic and organic molecules derived from a multitude of ...

OPTIMIZATION OF AERODYNAMIC CONDITIONS OF THE CHAMBER DRIER OPERATION

open access: yesИзвестия высших учебных заведений и энергетических объединенний СНГ: Энергетика, 2016
Wood utilization is a critical direction of the industrial production advancement, where desiccation of wood holds a prominent place. Convective drying in chamber driers is the presentday dominant technique for wood desiccation.

Experimental and Numerical Investigation of Gaseous Detonation in a Narrow Channel with Obstacles

open access: yesFluids, 2021
Gaseous detonation propagation in a thin channel with regularly spaced cylindrical obstacles was investigated experimentally and numerically. The wave propagation with substantial velocity deficits is observed and the details of its propagation mechanism

Stability of mass transfer from massive giants: double black hole binary formation and ultraluminous X-ray sources [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The mass transfer in binaries with massive donors and compact companions, when the donors rapidly evolve after their main sequence, is one of the dominant formation channels of merging double stellar-mass black hole binaries.
