On nucleon exchange mechanism in heavy-ion collisions at near-barrier energies

open access: yes, 2011
Nucleon drift and diffusion mechanisms in central collisions of asymmetric heavy-ions at near-barrier energies are investigated in the framework of a stochastic mean-field approach.

Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

CONVECTIVE MASS TRANSFER COEFFICIENT MEASUREMENT TECHNIQUES

open access: yesBrilliant Engineering
Mass transfer is one of the most important processes in all engineering systems, especially in chemical processes. Mass transfer at the micro- and macroscales, resistances encountered during mass transfer, types of mass transfer, and the measurement of mass transfer rates are key topics.

Numerical Exploration of Thermal Shock Resistance in MgO–C Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A mesostructure‐resolved numerical framework is developed to evaluate the thermal shock resistance of MgO–C refractories. By modeling interface debonding under rapid temperature changes and introducing a modified thermal shock parameter that accounts for mesocracks, the study shows how graphite content and aggregate size influence thermal shock ...

Bias‐Free Highly Efficient and Stable Dye‐Sensitized Photoelectrochemical Cells via Cascade Charge Transfer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A buried‐junction DSPEC design is introduced that leverages cascade charge transfer to enhance efficiency, stability, and versatility. This approach facilitates effective charge transfer and minimizes recombination losses, leading to significant improvements.
