Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Biomass effects on oxygen transfer in membrane bioreactors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Ten biomass samples from both municipal and industrial pilot and full scale submerged membrane bioreactors (MBRs) with mixed liquor suspended solids concentrations (MLSS) ranging from 7.2 to 30.2 g L−1 were studied at six air-flow rates (0.7, 1.3, 2.3, 3,

Golgi enzymes are retrieved from the plasma membrane to the trans‐Golgi network

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Golgi enzymes are traditionally considered resident proteins retained within the Golgi apparatus. Here, we demonstrate that a subset transiently reaches the cell surface and is subsequently retrieved to the trans‐Golgi network via retrograde transport. Using a nanobody‐based toolkit, we uncover a dynamic trafficking cycle of several Golgi enzymes.

Estimation of Mass Transfer Coefficient for Copper Electrowinning Process

open access: yesJournal of Engineering, 2016
Mass transfer was examined at a stationary rectangular copper electrode (cathode) by using the reduction of cupric ions as the electrochemical reaction.

Study of Oxygen Mass Transfer Coefficient in Microbial Leaching of Uranium [PDF]

open access: yesمجله علوم و فنون هسته‌ای, 2013
Oxygen mass transfer coefficient is one of the most important parameters in the design of aerobic process bioreactor, which is represented by the overall volumetric oxygen mass transfer.

Experimental Study of Horizontal Flow Boiling Heat Transfer Coefficient and Pressure Drop of R134a from Subcooled Liquid Region to Superheated Vapor Region

open access: yes, 2022
For the past few years, research in the field of flow boiling heat transfer has gained immense popularity for unravelling the dominant mechanism responsible for controlling heat transfer and identifying a parametric trend for understanding the ...

Translophagy—A potential link between autophagy impairment and translational errors

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neurodegenerative diseases are characterised by the accumulation of abnormal proteins and protein aggregates, but their origin often remains unknown. We propose that selective autophagy removes damaged protein‐making machinery, preventing errors during protein synthesis.

Simulation Of Convective Heat Transfer Coefficient In The Receiver Tube Of A Parabolic Trough Concentrator. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The evaluation of the convective heat transfer coefficient, hc by simulation can be made simple, if modeling of the temperature dependent parameters is carried out effectively.

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Ultrasound in gas–liquid systems: Effects on solubility and mass transfer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The effect of ultrasound on the pseudo-solubility of nitrogen in water and on gas–liquid mass transfer kinetics has been investigated in an autoclave reactor equipped with a gas induced impeller.
