3D reconstruction of shoulder muscles in hominoid primates: Correlating scapular attachment areas with muscle volume

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, Volume 246, Issue 5, Page 709-723, May 2025.
Digital muscle reconstructions are opening up a whole new world in understanding anatomy! In this study, we are thrilled to show that surface scans can capture rotator cuff volumes across a range of hominoids, while identifying challenges with less well‐defined muscles like the teres major.

Behavioral correlates of fascicular organization: The confluence of muscle architectural anatomy and function

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, Volume 308, Issue 4, Page 1265-1277, April 2025.
Abstract Muscle is a complex tissue that has been studied on numerous hierarchical levels: from gross descriptions of muscle organization to cellular analyses of fiber profiles. In the middle of this space between organismal and cellular biology lies muscle architecture, the level at which functional correlations between a muscle's internal fiber ...

Acid‐Resistant Glass Ionomer Cements: An Assessment of Their Mechanical Properties, Fluoride Ion Release and Protection to Surrounding Tooth Surfaces From Acid Challenges

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Materials Research Part B: Applied Biomaterials, Volume 113, Issue 4, April 2025.
ABSTRACT New acid‐resistant glass ionomer cements (GIC) claim to be able to withstand acidic conditions while also protecting surrounding tooth structures and preserving function. Currently, there are only a few studies that assessed mechanical properties, ion release, and changes that occur around an acid‐resistant GIC–dentine bonded interface under ...

Exploring the Effects of Ikigai on Mental, Physical, and Social Health: A Scoping Review

open access: yesLifestyle Medicine, Volume 6, Issue 2, April 2025.
ABSTRACT There has been growing recognition of the importance of cultural factors in shaping health outcomes. There is an established interconnectedness among meaning, purpose, and health. Understanding cultural factors, which support a positive linear effect on health, could help establish their role in medical practice and lifestyle practices across ...

Management Options and Outcomes for Root‐Filled Teeth That Have a Periapical Radiolucency

open access: yesAustralian Endodontic Journal, Volume 51, Issue 1, Page 10-16, April 2025.
ABSTRACT Post‐treatment endodontic disease (PTED) may be defined by the presence of a periapical radiolucency in a previously root‐filled tooth when the lesion can no longer be assumed to be healing. When a diagnosis of PTED is made, theoretically only three management options remain: no treatment (review and reassess), endodontic retreatment ...
