Analysis of Masticatory Cycle Efficiency in Complete Denture Wearers
Journal of Prosthodontics, 2010Abstract Purpose: This study assessed masticatory efficiency and duration of the masticatory cycle in 14 asymptomatic patients with severe bone resorption. All patients had worn complete dentures for over 10 years. Recall visits were scheduled at 5 months and 1 year after receiving new dentures.

The relationship between salivary secretion rate and masticatory efficiency
Journal of Oral Rehabilitation, 2004summary In order to elucidate the relationship between the salivary secretion rate and masticatory efficiency, experimental hypo‐ and hyper‐salivation were produced by the administration of atropine sulphate presenting an anticholinergic effect and pilocarpine hydrochloride having a muscarine effect orally in 10 healthy fully dentates.

Masticatory function—a review of the literature
Journal of Oral Rehabilitation, 1976SummaryA review and evaluation of the literature on mastication has been undertaken. Part Idiscusses the form of the masticatory cycle in the natural and artificial dentitions, including the controversial question of whether tooth contact occurs during function.

Masticatory function was investigated in nine patients with relapse and ten patients without relapse of overjet after activator treatment, Masticatory efficiency, evaluated by a chewing test, was related to the number of intermaxillary tooth contacts and the electromyographic (EMG) activity from the temporal and masseter muscles during chewing.

Masticatory efficiency in individuals with natural dentition.
Swedish dental journal, 199351 healthy dentate subjects aged between 20 and 60 years were evaluated with regard to their masticatory efficiency using a sieving test. A subjective evaluation of difficulty in chewing different kinds of food was also obtained by means of a questionnaire. The occlusal and restorative status were assessed using specific indices.

[Masticatory efficiency in skeletal class III malocclusion].
Zhonghua kou qiang yi xue za zhi = Zhonghua kouqiang yixue zazhi = Chinese journal of stomatology, 1995In this research, we used the Gunne's spectrophotometry method to measure the masticatory efficiency in 30 skeletal Class III patients and in 55 normal people. After groups comparing and step wise-regression analysis, we found that masticatory efficiency in Class III malocclusion group was much lower than that in normal occlusion group, and the ...

[Occlusal pattern factors influencing masticatory efficiency].
Aichi Gakuin Daigaku Shigakkai shi, 1990The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between occlusal pattern factors and masticatory efficiency. 50 subjects with normal dentition were tested to obtain the occlusal pattern standard. The simplified particle counting method, which was previously reported by Imaoka et al., was used to determine the masticatory efficiency ...

Masticatory efficiency in children with primary dentition.
Pediatric dentistry, 2002The aim of this study was to evaluate masticatory efficiency in children with normal primary occlusion and malocclusion and to correlate efficiency with body variables.Thirty children were divided into three groups: Group I with normal occlusion (n = 10), Group II with posterior crossbite (n = 10) and Group III with anterior open bite (n = 10).
