Predictive factors for masticatory performance in Duchenne muscular dystrophy
Neuromuscular Disorders, 2014Patients with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) report masticatory and swallowing problems. Such problems may cause complications such as choking, and feeling of food sticking in the throat. We investigated whether masticatory performance in DMD is objectively impaired, and explored predictive factors for compromised mastication.

Factors Influencing the Changes in Masticatory Performance: The Suita Study
JDR Clinical & Translational Research, 2018Introduction: Although previous studies have identified various factors related to masticatory performance, which factors affect longitudinal changes in masticatory performance have not been clarified. Objectives: We aimed to clarify factors involved in changes to masticatory performance and construct models from factors related to masticatory ...

Morphological and masticatory performance variation of mouth behavior groups
Journal of Texture Studies, 2019AbstractFood texture preference and product acceptance are hypothesized to be influenced by mouth behavior. Recent work identified four mouth behavior (MB) groups that describe most consumers in the United States: Chewers, Crunchers, Smooshers, and Suckers.

The influence of orthognathic surgery on masticatory performance in retrognathic patients
Journal of Oral Rehabilitation, 2005summary Surgical correction of retrognathism may influence chewing performance and its underlying mechanisms selection and breakage of food particles. In this study we examined the hypothesis that treatment of this anomaly improves chewing performance.
