Serum Biochemical Values in Two Inbred Strains of Mastomys (Praomys coucha).

open access: yesExperimental Animals, 1999
Serum samples collected from 119 (72 male and 47 female) mastomys (Praomys coucha) of 2 specific-pathogen-free inbred strains (RI4 and RI7) were analyzed for 12 serum biochemical parameters. Sex-related differences (p < 0.01) were noted in alkaline phosphatase and glucose; the both higher in females than in males.

Preimplantation Embryo Development in Mastomys (Praomys coucha) In Vivo and In Vitro.

open access: yesJournal of Reproduction and Development, 1997
Mastomys (Praomys coucha) is a small murine rodent native in Africa. The present study was undertaken to investigate the developmental time course of mastomys embryos in vivo and the rate of development in vitro. Mastomys embryos developing in vivo exhibited a long 2-cell stage, which lasted from late Day 1 through Day 3.

Acanthocheilonema viteae in Mastomys coucha: Chemotherapeutic and Chemoprophylactic Role of Vitamin A in Experimental Filarial Infection

open access: yesZeitschrift Fur Naturforschung - Section C Journal of Biosciences, 2006
The role of vitamin A was evaluated for its chemotherapeutic and chemoprophylactic action against Acanthocheilonema viteae infection in Mastomys coucha. Vitamin A was administered for 10 days, five days before infection and five days post infection.

Mitochondrial heme oxygenase of Mastomys coucha

The International Journal of Biochemistry & Cell Biology, 1996
While studying the fate of heme generated during malaria infection, it was observed that mitochondrial preparations were highly enriched with heme compared to other subcellular particles. With this background, the present study aimed to determine the status of mitochondrial heme oxygenase and compare it with the microsomal enzyme.

Immunomodulatory effects in Litomosoides sigmodontis -infected Mastomys coucha

Parasitology Research, 2000
The levels of parasite-specific IgG1 and IgG2 antibodies and mitogen-induced and parasite-specific proliferative T-cell responses were determined in Litomosoides sigmodontis-infected Mastomys coucha throughout an observation period of 400 days post infection (p.i.).
