Could a trade agreement strengthen the enforcement of domestic environmental laws? Envisioning the impacts of the US–Peru environmental submissions mechanism

open access: yesReview of European, Comparative &International Environmental Law, Volume 32, Issue 3, Page 465-472, November 2023., 2023
Abstract Could a trade agreement strengthen the enforcement of domestic environmental laws? This article explores this question in the context of the US–Peru Trade Promotion Agreement (TPA). The article examines, in particular, the potential role of the Secretariat for Submissions on Environmental Enforcement Matters (SEEM) of the TPA.

Meta‐analysis of ecosystem services associated with oyster restoration

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 37, Issue 1, February 2023., 2023
Abstract Restoration of foundation species promises to reverse environmental degradation and return lost ecosystem services, but a lack of standardized evaluation across projects limits understanding of recovery, especially in marine systems. Oyster reefs are restored to reverse massive global declines and reclaim valuable ecosystem services, but the ...

On the taxonomic identity and nomenclature of Cyperus megapotamicus (Cyperaceae)

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, Volume 39, Issue 8, August 2021., 2021
Cyperus megapotamicus (A. Spreng.) Kunth is a nomenclatural synonym of Rhynchospora megapotamica (A. Spreng.) H. Pfeiff. but was originally misapplied to a species of Cyperus. Contrary to the rules, both species names are in current use in different genera.

Functional Diversity of Neotropical Aquatic Hyphomycetes: Insights Into Environmental Drivers

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 57, Issue 6, November 2025.
Subtropical streams host diverse hyphomycete assemblages than tropical one's. Larger saprotrophs with diverse conidia shapes dominate in subtropical areas. Cold and oxygenated waters have a positive effect on functional diversity. Poor litter in tropical favored the dominance of wood saprotrophs and endophytes.

The potential of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi to improve soil organic carbon in agricultural ecosystems: A meta‐analytical approach

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, Volume 39, Issue 4, Page 1016-1030, April 2025.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Increasing soil organic carbon (SOC) in agroecosystems is a key objective for enhancing agricultural sustainability and mitigating climate change. Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) can increase yield and provide several other ecosystem services.

Net primary productivity and litter decomposition rates in two distinct Amazonian peatlands

open access: yesGlobal Change Biology, Volume 30, Issue 8, August 2024.
Our understanding of carbon cycling in tropical peatlands is limited by the lack of data on forest productivity and litter decomposition. Here we present measurements from two floristically distinct Amazonian peatland forests, a palm‐dominated swamp and a thin‐stemmed hardwood swamp.

Avaliação de indicadores de qualidade do solo sob alternativas de recuperação do solo no Nordeste Paraense. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
