Bifunctional Surfaces With Immobilized Antibodies and Bioactive Peptides Mediate Selective Capture and Proliferation of Endothelial Colony‐Forming Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A tunable bifunctional surface is developed by combining Fc‐binding peptides and RGD motifs to present oriented antibodies alongside integrin‐mediated signaling. The platform selectively captures endothelial colony‐forming cells while promoting their adhesion and proliferation.

Investigation of TIG-welding plasma and the electrode contamination [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
TIG welding experiments have been used for the welded joints of the austenitic stainless steel and molybdenum. The aim of the experiments was to find the optimal welding parameters.

The magnetoelectrochemical switch [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In the field of spintronics, the archetype solid-state two-terminal device is the spin valve, where the resistance is controlled by the magnetization configuration.

Bacteria‐Responsive Nanostructured Drug Delivery Systems for Targeted Antimicrobial Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Bacteria‐responsive nanocarriers are designed to release antimicrobials only in the presence of infection‐specific cues. This selective activation ensures drug release precisely at the site of infection, avoiding premature or indiscriminate release, and enhancing efficacy.

Amino acids: inhibitors or promoters of anaerobic biocorrosion of steels? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Various authors have shown that some amino acids can act as corrosion inhibitors, which has generated an increasing interest in these compounds as substitutes to conventional corrosion inhibitors that are usually toxic [1,2].

New‐Era Polymer Thermoelectrics: Material Innovations, Doping Frontiers, Decoupling Strategies, and Unconventional Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The field of polymer thermoelectrics is entering a new era, featuring breakthroughs in addressing the conventional performance disparity between p‐type and n‐type polymers, pioneering doping frontiers, and sophisticated decoupling strategies. This review explores innovations in molecular design and superior stabilities, bridging the gap from ...

A literature review of analytical techniques for materials characterisation of painted textiles - Part 1: categorising painted textiles, sampling and the use of optical tools [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Many types of painted textile are represented in museum collections. Their flexibility, draping qualities, and heterogeneous, layered nature make painted textiles complex objects to conserve. What do we know about their materials and making?

Direct Mode‐Resolved Measurement of Interfacial Phonon Transport by Acoustic Phonon Reflectometry

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
We introduce a novel analysis, acoustic phonon reflectometry, that measures the mode‐resolved phonon reflection coefficient at semiconductor interfaces. In aluminum nitride, we observe excellent agreement with the acoustic mismatch model across three distinct interfaces.

Friction properties of fluorinated carbons [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In boundary lubrication regime, friction reduction and antiwear processes are associated to the presence of additives in the lubricating oils or greases.

Enhanced Energy Transfer from a Metal–Organic Framework to a Highly Confined Organic Phosphorescent Dye

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A phosphorescent dye was designed to fit in a hand‐to‐glove fashion into the 1D‐pore channels of MIL‐68(In). We synthesized MIL‐68(In) as powder and thin films, loaded the dye into the pores with controlled packing, and found that the phosphorescence and quantum yield are enhanced.
