The tidal tails of NGC 2298 [PDF]
We present an implementation of the matched-filter technique to detect tidal tails of globular clusters. The method was tested using SDSS data for the globular cluster Palomar 5 revealing its well known tidal tails. We also ran a simulation of a globular

Synthesis method for matching filters [PDF]
The aim of this paper is to develop an exact synthesis technique for matching filters in connexion with the use of single band antennas. A certified algorithm based on Youla's matching theory and convex optimization is presented. A practical example is considered with the synthesis of a matching filter in SIW technology used behind a microstrip patch ...

We show that combining vibrational spectroscopy with signal processing can result in a scheme for ultrasensitive detection of molecules. We consider the vibrational spectrum as a signal on the energy axis and apply a matched filter on that axis.

Joint signal extraction from galaxy clusters in X-ray and SZ surveys: A matched-filter approach
The hot ionized gas of the intra-cluster medium emits thermal radiation in the X-ray band and also distorts the cosmic microwave radiation through the Sunyaev-Zel'dovich (SZ) effect.

A New Hybrid Algorithm for Retinal Vessels Segmentation on Fundus Images
Automatic retinal vessels segmentation is an important task in medical applications. However, most of the available retinal vessels segmentation methods are prone to poorer results when dealing with challenging situations such as detecting low-contrast ...

Butterworth-Induced Autoregressive Model
This work proposes a novel autoregressive (AR) modeling framework in which the model structure and coefficients are induced from the analytical properties of Butterworth filters.

Optimum coding techniques for MST radars [PDF]
The optimum coding technique for MST (mesosphere stratosphere troposphere) radars is that which gives the lowest possible sidelobes in practice and can be implemented without too much computing power. Coding techniques are described in Farley (1985).
