Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Filter design for the detection of compact sources based on the Neyman-Pearson detector
This paper considers the problem of compact source detection on a Gaussian background in 1D. Two aspects of this problem are considered: the design of the detector and the filtering of the data.

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Rapid screening of staphylokinase protein variants using an unpurified cell‐free expression system
An unpurified cell‐free protein synthesis (CFPS) platform enables rapid functional screening of staphylokinase variants. Direct plasminogen‐activation assays performed in microplate format provide real‐time activity readouts, allowing rapid identification and ranking of variants with improved or reduced fibrinolytic activity without protein ...

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

Evaluation of a class of NLFM radar signals
Signal design is an important component for good performance of radar systems. Here, the problem of determining a good radar signal with the objective of minimizing autocorrelation sidelobes is addressed, and the first comprehensive comparison of a range
