Multichannel Wiener filter in active sound‐navigation‐and‐ranging systems—A joint beamformer and matched filter approach

open access: yesIET Radar, Sonar & Navigation
Conventional active SONAR systems often use beamformers and matched filters separately to extract bearing and range information from the received signal and offer a straightforward way of creating a two‐dimensional map of the environment.

MIMO radar with broadband waveforms: Smearing filter banks and 2D virtual arrays [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In this paper MIMO radars with broadband waveforms are considered. A time domain viewpoint is taken, which allows frequency invariant beamforming with a filter bank called the smearing filter bank.

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Measuring the Galaxy Cluster Bulk Flow from WMAP data

open access: yes, 2011
We have looked for bulk motions of galaxy clusters in the WMAP~7 year data. We isolate the kinetic Sunyaev-Zeldovich (SZ) signal by filtering the WMAP Q, V and W band maps with multi-frequency matched filters, that utilize the spatial properties of the ...

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

A Bayesian approach to filter design: detection of compact sources

open access: yes, 2005
We consider filters for the detection and extraction of compact sources on a background. We make a one-dimensional treatment (though a generalization to two or more dimensions is possible) assuming that the sources have a Gaussian profile whereas the ...

Identification of serum protein biomarkers for pre‐cancerous lesions associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...

Biologically Inspired Feedback Design for Drosophila Flight [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We use a biologically motivated model of the Drosophila's flight mechanics and sensor processing to design a feedback control scheme to regulate forward flight.

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Template Matching: Matched Spatial Filters and Beyond [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Template matching by means of cross-correlation is common practice in pattern recognition. However, its sensitivity to deformations of the pattern and the broad and unsharp peaks it produces are significant drawbacks.
