Approximate pattern matching with samples
1994We simplify in this paper the algorithm by Chang and Lawler for the approximate string matching problem, by adopting the concept of sampling. We have a more general analysis of expected time with the simplified algorithm for the one-dimensional case under a non-uniform probability distribution, and we show that our method can easily be generalized to ...

Covert verbal mediation in arbitrary matching to sample
Journal of the Experimental Analysis of Behavior, 2018Covert verbal mediation was examined in an arbitrary matching‐to‐sample (MTS) preparation with a high‐verbal group (college students) and a low‐verbal group (adults with intellectual disabilities). Arbitrary relations were established between nonsense words, visual symbols, objects, and hand signs.

The Multitarget Monopulse CRLB for Matched Filter Samples
IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2007It has recently been found that by jointly processing multiple (sum, azimuth-, and elevation-difference) matched filter samples, it is possible to extract and localize several (more than two) targets spaced more closely than the classical interpretation of radar resolution.

Familial Aggregation Studies with Matched Proband Sampling
Human Heredity, 1996A method is proposed for the analysis of clustered, continuous data arising from matched familial aggregation studies. The problem is suggested by a study designed to estimate the familial aggregation of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). The study design uses 'proband' sampling, in which individuals identified at sleep clinics as having a high degree of ...

Symbolic Matching-to-Sample by Pigeons
Psychological Reports, 1974Pigeons were given 4 sessions, 90 reinforcers per session, in which the center one of three response keys was illuminated with red and green light. 40 responses on the center key produced side keys displaying white vertical and horizontal lines on black backgrounds.

Learning mechanisms in matching to sample.
Journal of Experimental Psychology: Animal Behavior Processes, 1992A model system and an experiment on early learning and decision processes in matching-to-sample and oddity-from-sample tasks are presented. The model system is based, in part, on videotaped records of pigeons' looking responses before they chose 1 of 2 comparison stimuli.

Automated Training for a “Matching-To-Sample” Task in Aphasia
Journal of Speech and Hearing Research, 1965This study investigated the differential responses of more than 100 aphasics to a “primer” program of automatic training. The subjects were exposed to random shapes on a screen, and responded by pushing buttons to match stimuli. If the response was correct, colored lights were flashed or door chimes sounded.

Transfer of matching-to-sample in pigeons.
Journal of the experimental analysis of behavior, 2010In Experiment I, pigeons were first trained on simultaneous matching-to-sample with either color stimuli or form stimuli, and then shifted to stimuli on the other dimension. Matching performance in the first session with stimuli on a given dimension was not affected by prior matching training with stimuli on the other dimension.
