Identifying prognostic targets in metastatic prostate cancer beyond AR

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Genome‐wide functional screens combined with a large gene expression database and clinical outcomes can identify new therapeutic vulnerabilities in prostate cancer. Eight potentially druggable targets demonstrated strong dependency in cell lines, were associated with worse prognosis clinically, and showed evidence of protein expression in prostate ...

International outsourcing and labour demand: Evidence from Finnish firm-level data [PDF]

open access: yes
We examine the employment effects of international outsourcing by using firm-level data from the Finnish manufacturing sector. A major advantage of our data is that outsourcing is defined based on firms’ actual use of intermediate inputs from foreign ...

The E3 ubiquitin ligase, RNF219, suppresses CNOT6L expression to exhibit antiproliferative activity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We identified RNF219 as a CCR4‐NOT complex‐interacting E3 ubiquitin ligase that targets the CCR4‐NOT subunit CNOT6L for ubiquitination. RNF219 directly binds to the DUF3819 domain of CNOT1 through its putative α‐helix spanning amino acids 521–542. Our findings also suggest that antiproliferative activity of RNF219 is at least partially mediated by ...

Rosca Participation in Benin: a Commitment Issue [PDF]

open access: yes
In the light of first-hand data from a Beninese urban household survey in Cotonou, we investigate several motives aiming to explain participation in Rotating Savings and Credit ASsociations. We provide anecdotal pieces of evidence, descriptive statistics,

Characterization of WAC interactions with R2TP and TTT chaperone complexes linking glucose and glutamine availability to mTORC1 activity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
TTT and R2TP chaperone complexes are required for the assembly and activation of mTORC1. WAC directly interacts with components of TTT, R2TP, and mTORC1, and these interactions are affected by the availability of glucose and glutamine, correlating with changes in mTORC1 activity.

Two‐way inhibition of PAX5 transcriptional activity by PAX5::CBFA2T3

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
PAX5::CBFA2T3 (PAX5‐C) is a fusion protein of the B‐cell transcription factor, PAX5, and is found in B‐cell ALL. We propose a putative model of two‐way inhibition of PAX5 transcriptional activity by PAX5‐C. There are two ways of repression by PAX5‐C: DNA‐binding‐dependent way and HDAC‐dependent way, with either being sufficient for the repression. HDAC

Structural and functional characterization of chitinase from carnivorous plant Drosera adelae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A class I chitinase from the carnivorous plant Drosera adelae was expressed and purified using a yeast system, revealing high enzymatic activity. Structural analyses of the catalytic and chitin‐binding domains identified key tyrosine residues involved in substrate binding, offering insights into the enzyme's adaptation for insect digestion.
