The correct name for Matelea chacoensis Goyder (Apocynaceae: Asclepiadoideae) [PDF]

open access: yesKew Bulletin, 2016
Matelea chacoensis Goyder was proposed as a replacement name for the illegitimate Gonolobus hirtus Griseb., a later homonym of G. hirtus (L.) R. Br. ex Schultes. However, the synonym Pseudibatia hirta Malme, which may be considered a legitimate replacement name, makes an earlier epithet available.

A New Combination in Matelea (Asclepiadaceae) and Lectotypification of M. Parvifolia

Brittonia, 1991

Both species are considered representatives of a broadly interpreted genusMatelea, subgenusChthamalia. A new combination,M. hastatula, is proposed, andG. parvifolius is lectotypified.
