Sementes de M. maritima germinam na temperatura otima de 25°C com valores maximos na luz, sendo o processo otimizado em temperatura alternada de 25/30°C. Escarificacao mecânica promove a germinacao. Em sementes nuas, a germinacao e promovida e acelerada tanto na luz quanto no escuro.
