This article revisits Jerome’s treatment of the Rhine crossings of 406 in his letter to the widow Geruchia, and the broader issue of breaching the Roman limes. It argues that his description of the events in Gaul and on the border was framed to fit his notion of the history of salvation.

Do sexual differences in life strategies make male lizards more susceptible to parasite infection?
Sexual dimorphism in coadaptive host–parasite relationships are poorly understand. The comparative nature of the presented studied as well as the generalisation of the results for the geographic region sampled makes this study of general interest of ecologists, evolutionary biologists, physiologist and parasitologist, among others.
