Discovery of a Novel DNMT1 Inhibitor with Improved Efficacy in Treating β‐Thalassemia

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Context of Research: β‐thalassemia affects millions worldwide. DNMT inhibitors are effective HbF‐inducers that benefit patients with β‐thalassemia. Existing DNMT inhibitors are not approved for β‐thalassemia treatment due to dose‐limiting toxicity. What We Find: DMT207 traps DNMT1 into helix‐kinked inactive conformation and enhances its interaction with

On the axiomatization of convex subsets of Banach spaces

open access: yes, 2015
We prove that any convex-like structure in the sense of Nate Brown is affinely and isometrically isomorphic to a closed convex subset of a Banach space. This answers an open question of Brown. As an intermediate step, we identify Brown's algebraic axioms

¿Qué olor tiene la lluvia?

open access: yesMateria Arquitectura, 2012
Este artículo indaga en la función de la imagen en el proceso proyectual. Se estructura en torno a las potencialidades de la materia (en su estado más “bruto”) y a fenómenos atmosféricos como temperatura, humedad, neblina y vapor.

Gut–Metabolome–Proteome Interactions in Age‐Related Hearing Loss: Insights from Fecal Microbiota Transplantation and Multi‐Omics Analyses

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Germ‐free (GF) mice receiving fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) reveal microbiota‐dependent effects on auditory aging. Integrated metagenomic, metabolomic and proteomic profiling maps gut–inner ear network and highlights 5‐hydroxytryptophan (5‐HTP) as a microbiota‐linked metabolic hub in age‐related hearing loss (ARHL).

Zero-Energy Modes from Coalescing Andreev States in a Two-Dimensional Semiconductor-Superconductor Hybrid Platform

open access: yes, 2017
We investigate zero-bias conductance peaks that arise from coalescing subgap Andreev states, consistent with emerging Majorana zero modes, in hybrid semiconductor-superconductor wires defined in a two-dimensional InAs/Al heterostructure using top-down ...

Resolvin D5 Inhibits CXCL8 Expression in Colonic Epithelial Cells Through Activating GPR101 to Impede Neutrophil Recruitment and Consequently Alleviate Ulcerative Colitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
RvD5 effectively alleviates UC by inhibiting STAT1 signaling to reduce CXCL8 expression in colonic epithelial cells via activation of GPR101, which subsequently decreases the infiltration of neutrophils in the colonic mucosal epithelium. Epimedin A1, a natural allosteric inhibitor of 5‐LOX, demonstrates potential as a therapeutic agent for UC by ...

Formation and Dissolution of Bacterial Colonies

open access: yes, 2015
Many organisms form colonies for a transient period of time to withstand environmental pressure. Bacterial biofilms are a prototypical example of such behavior.

Osmotic Tension Asymmetry Drives Electrotactic Migration via PDLIM7‐Polarized Microfilament Coordination in Breast Cancer Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study establishes an electric field‐induced directional migration model using fluorescence tension probes to visualize microfilament forces and intracellular osmotic pressure dynamics in the electrotactic migration of breast cancer cells. This model delineates how electromechanical interactions among membrane potential, ion channels, OP, traction ...

Galaxy formation: from primordial fluctuations to structure formation in the Universe [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Durante questa tesi studieremo principalmente i modelli di formazione di struttura nel universo di Press & Schechter(1974) e di White & Rees (1978), che spiegano la formazione galattica con un modello gerarchico di formazione di tutte le strutture ...

Generating a non-perturbative mass gap using Feynman diagrams in an asymptotically free theory

open access: yes, 2017
Using the example of a two dimensional four-fermion lattice field theory we demonstrate that Feynman diagrams can generate a mass gap when massless fermions interact via a marginally relevant coupling.
