Determination of gas in place (GIP) is among the hotspot issues in the field of oil/gas reservoir engineering. The conventional material balance method and other relevant approaches have found widespread application in estimating GIP of a gas reservoir ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Competing `soft' dielectric phases and detailed balance in thin film manganites
Using frequency dependent complex capacitance measurements on thin films of the mixed-valence manganite (La$_{1-y}$Pr$_{y}$)$_{1-x}$Ca$_{x}$MnO$_{3}$, we identify and resolve the individual dielectric responses of two competing dielectric phases.

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Fluid flow in actual oil reservoirs is consistent with material balance, which should be described by the nonlinear governing equation, including the quadratic gradient term (QGT). Nonetheless, the widely-used Blasingame production decline analysis (BPDA)

The contribution of self-induced charge currents of metamaterial media to photon effective rest mass is discussed in detail in the present paper. We concern ourselves with two kinds of photon effective rest mass, i.e., the frequency-dependent and ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Effect of CO2 on material and energy in dephosphorization converters
Based on the characteristics of CO2 at high temperature, material and energy models for CO2 using in a dephosphoriza-tion converter were established to verify the feasibility of CO2 for oxidation reactions.

Muscle as a meta-material operating near a critical point [PDF]
Passive mechanical response of skeletal muscles at fast time scales is dominated by long range interactions inducing cooperative behavior without breaking the detailed balance.
