Gibrel: Effect on Decomposition of Plant Materials
Science, 1966Gibrel, a potassium salt of gibberellic acid, was added to various crop residues and industrial wastes, in the presence of ample nutrients, at the rate of 50 parts per million; with and without Gibrel, samples were incubated for 45 days at 35°C. Presence of Gibrel enhanced biologic decomposition of the materials; Gibrel can be used as an "activator" in

Thermal decomposition of hybrid ultramicroporous materials (HUMs)
Dalton Transactions, 2020The thermal decomposition behaviour of representative hybrid ultramicroporous materials (HUMs) is investigated. Decomposition is triggered by fragmentation of the inorganic pillar, yielding XF 4 gases and metal fluorides.

Material decomposition using a singular value decomposition method
2013 IEEE Nuclear Science Symposium and Medical Imaging Conference (2013 NSS/MIC), 2013The development of photon counting detectors enables us to decompose materials in x-ray CT images. The photon counting detection can measure a linear attenuation coefficient of a given energy range, thereby contributing to the material decomposition or identification.

Background Material on Domain Decomposition
2004In this chapter we present some basic concepts of domain decomposition for partial differential equations. We do not attempt to provide a general introduction to that area, which has undergone a dramatic development in recent years. Rather we want to focus on those methods that we view as natural candidates to be extended to optimal control problems.

ANISOTROPIC DECOMPOSITION OF ENERGETIC MATERIALS.
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2008Using a white x‐ray synchrotron beam, we have dynamically studied radiation‐induced decomposition in single crystalline PETN and TATB. By monitoring the integrated intensity of selected diffraction spots via a CCD x‐ray camera as a function of time, we have found that the decomposition rate varies dramatically depending upon the orientation of the ...

On the Elastic and Plastic Strain Decomposition in Granular Materials
Granular Matter, 2006An impressive number of constitutive relations have been developed in the past few decades. With respect to the class of elastoplastic phenomenological models, elastic and plastic strain decomposition is generally stated as a basic assumption, so as to treat the elastic (i.e., recoverable) and plastic (i.e., unrecoverable) parts of the strains ...

Effect of Polar Surfaces on Decomposition of Molecular Materials
Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2014We report polar instability in molecular materials. Polarization-induced explosive decomposition in molecular crystals is explored with an illustrative example of two crystalline polymorphs of HMX, an important energetic material. We establish that the presence of a polar surface in δ-HMX has fundamental implications for material stability and overall ...

Thermal decomposition of energetic materials
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2000The studies of thermal decomposition to identify mechanisms and quantify kinetic parameters are complex and its extrapolation to real scale could be not acceptable. Using an intermediate scale setup, three typical explosives, AN, PETN and RDX, with an inert material (silica sand) are submitted to fast heating rate.

Microbial decomposition of leaf material at 0°C
Microbial Ecology, 1983The microbial decomposition of leaves (both fresh and autumnshed) at 0°C using stream sediment-water was investigated. The maximum rates of loss of leaf carbohydrate and protein at 0°C were considerable, being about 40% of those at 20°C. These rates were only slightly affected by the type of leaf material present being 1.3-fold higher with fresh leaves
