Mechanical property of pixel extrusion and pin forming for polymer, ceramic, and metal formation

open access: yesHeliyon, 2023
The rapid material fabrications in pixel shape were mechanically studied in comparison with FDM and STL 3D printing technique. The pixel extrusion technique was the extrusion with a set of holes in the die. By controlling the flow of each hole in the die,

Instable Material Flow in Extrusion and Upsetting

open access: yesCIRP Annals, 1982
In spite of precisely controled tooling the shape and dimensions of extruded cans sometimes vary considerably during production. This phenomenon happens in all forming operations which include an upsetting process such as upsetting, heading, flattening, backward can extrusion etc. Further, experiments brought up the evidence of an instable shift of the

Bistable Mechanisms 3D Printing for Mechanically Programmable Vibration Control

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces a 3D‐printed bistable mechanism integrated into tuned mass dampers (TMDs) for mechanically adaptive passive vibration suppression. Through optimized geometry, the bistable design provides adaptable vibration reduction across a broad range of scenarios, achieving effective vibration mitigation without complex controls or external ...

Numerical Investigations on Material Flow During Indirect Extrusion of Copper-Clad Aluminum Rods

open access: yesFrontiers in Materials, 2020
In the extrusion of clad composite materials with different flow stresses are usually used. This causes an inhomogeneous material flow which can induce sleeve or core fracture.

Extruder for food product (otak–otak) with heater and roll cutter [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Food extrusion is a form of extrusion used in food industries. It is a process by which a set of mixed ingredients are forced through an opening in a perforated plate or die with a design specific to the food, and is then cut to a specified size by ...

Intrusion and extrusion of water in hydrophobic nanopores [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Heterogeneous systems composed of hydrophobic nanoporous materials and water are capable, depending on their characteristics, of efficiently dissipating (dampers) or storing ("molecular springs") energy.

Enhancing Corrosion Resistance and Mechanical Strength of 3D‐Printed Iron Polylactic Acid for Marine Applications via Laser Surface Texturing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laser surface texturing significantly improves the corrosion resistance and mechanical strength of 3D‐printed iron polylactic acid (Ir‐PLA) for marine applications. Optimal laser parameters reduce corrosion by 80% and enhance tensile strength by 25% and ductility by 15%.

Dynamic Precipitation during High‐Pressure Torsion of a Magnesium–Manganese Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An ultrafine‐grained alloy is produced by high‐pressure torsion of solutionized Mg–1.35 wt% Mn. Precipitation of nanometer‐scale Mn particles during deformation provides pinning sites. This prevents the formation of a bimodal grain structure and results in a finer grain size than for pure Mg.
