Recent Developments in Mechanochemical Materials Synthesis by Extrusion

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, 2016
Mechanochemical synthesis, i.e., reactions conducted by grinding solid reactants together with no or minimal solvent, has been demonstrated as an excellent technique for the formation of both organic and inorganic compounds. Mechanochemistry is viewed as an alternative approach to chemical synthesis and is not always considered when developing ...

Development and Preliminary In Vivo Study of 3D‐Printed Bioactive Glass Scaffolds with Trabecular Architecture

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports the fabrication of trabecular bioactive glass scaffolds (composition “1d”: 46.1SiO2‐28.7CaO‐8.8MgO‐6.2P2O5‐5.7CaF2‐4.5Na2O wt%) through vat photopolymerization and the relevant results from mechanical testing and in vivo implantation procedures in rabbit femora, showing great promise for bone tissue engineering applications.

Clinical and magnetic resonance imaging characteristics of thoracolumbar intervertenral disk extrusions and protrusions in large breed dogs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
It has recently been shown that the fat-derived hormone adiponectin has the ability to decrease hyperglycemia and to reverse insulin resistance. However, bacterially produced full-length adiponectin is functionally inactive. Here, we show that endogenous

3-D Numerical Simulation of Direct Aluminum Extrusion and Die Deformation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The design of extrusion dies depends on the experience of the designer. After the die has been manufactured, it is tested during an extrusion process and machined several times until it works properly.

Effects of Carbon Nanoparticles on Triboelectro‐Induced Surface Defects

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Carbon nanoparticles added to grease modify the electrocontact behavior. The synergy of particle concentration and electric current dominates the surface damage of metals in contact. Electrical surface damage caused by current leakage is a critical challenge in high‐performance applications such as electric vehicle (EV) drivetrains and wind turbine ...

Physicochemical and antioxidant properties of extruded Rhodiola as affected by twin-screw extrusion

open access: yesInternational Journal of Food Properties, 2023
In order to explore the effect of extrusion operating parameters on the physicochemical and antioxidation properties of the extruded Rhodiola, Rhodiola was extruded as raw material under different moisture content (24, 26, 28%), barrel temperature (120 ...

Extrusion Material Moisture on the Property of Prolamins from Distiller's Grains

open access: yesShipin gongye ke-ji
In this study, a single-screw extruder was used to extrude distiller's grains (DGs) and the effect of extrusion material moisture (21%, 24%, 27%, 30%, 33%) on prolamins from DGs (PDGs) was studied by measuring the physicochemical (solubility ...
