Analysis of uncertainty in material flow analysis
Journal of Cleaner Production, 2018Abstract Material flow analysis (MFA) is a method of depicting the flow of materials in the anthroposphere and the environment to support environmental management. However, MFA results can contain uncertainties that may be related to the investigation method, calculation process, data quality, data source, or study assumptions. Uncertainty is already

Using Material Flow Analysis for Sustainable Materials Management
Journal of Industrial Ecology, 2009Many possible applications exist for material flow analysis (MFA). One of them is to help with sustainable materials management (SMM), a familiar concept to the readers of this journal— “an approach to serving human needs by using/ reusing resources most productively and sustainably throughout their life cycles, generally minimizing the amount of ...

National material flow analysis

Flow analysis of semiconductor encapsulating material
1994 Proceedings. 44th Electronic Components and Technology Conference, 2002Plastic package is currently the most popularly used process for encapsulating semiconductor packages. At present, transfer molding is the leading method in the world. New packages such as TSOP, TQFP and BGA require new technology because of their difficulty as compared to older package such as DIP and SOP.

Material Flow Analysis from Origin to Evolution
Environmental Science & Technology, 2019Material flow analysis (MFA), a central methodology of industrial ecology, quantifies the ways in which the materials that enable modern society are used, reused, and lost. Sankey diagrams, termed the "visible language of industrial ecology", are often employed to present MFA results.

Integrated Analysis of Material Flow Systems
The Materials Handling Engineering Division 75th Anniversary Commemorative Volume, 1994Abstract Material flow system design problems (i.e. facility layout, material handling equipment selection and specification, flow path design, unit load sizing, cell design, warehousing, routing, etc.) have been predominately modelled independently in the past. Independent consideration of each design problem has reduced the solution

Material Flow Analysis of ICT Business
Proceedings of the 2007 IEEE International Symposium on Electronics and the Environment, 2007We determined the material flow of a Japanese telephone corporation. We used a modified input-output table intended for LCA and found that the calculated annual input flow in weight was 93% compared with the annual output flow. This result indicates the change in total assets.

Dealing with uncertainty in material flow analysis
2017Material flow analysis (MFA) is a tool to investigate material flows and stocks in defined systems as a basis for resource management or environmental pollution control. Due to the lack of general information on data and model structure, and the diverse nature of data sources, MFA results are inherently uncertain (e.g. recycling rates, flow quantities).
