The Mechanics of Non-Linear Materials with Memory
Archive for Rational Mechanics and Analysis, 1959The mechanics of non-linear materials with memory has been discussed in previous papers [1, 2] and an earlier report [3]*. In these papers, it was assumed that, in a fixed coordinate system, the stress at a point of the material at any instant of time is determined by the deformation gradients at that instant and at previous instants.

Non‐linear analysis for anisotropic materials
International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, 1976AbstractAn elasto‐plastic analysis of anisotropic work‐hardening materials, using the finite element method is presented. The analysis is based on the generalized Huber‐Mises yield criterion extended by Hill for anisotropic materials. General expressions for the anisotropic parameters in the yield criterion have been derived both for initial yielding ...

Treatment of non-linear materials
2000Abstract Soft magnetic materials are those for which the width of the magnetisation loop is small and remanence can, to a first approximation, be neglected. Examples are the electrical sheet steels. Hard magnetic materials are those with a wide loop, operating in the second (or even third) quadrant and hence behaving as permanent ...

A number of devices used in the electronics industry have, over the years, become classified as non-linear. These include such components as the thermistor (a resistor that is non-linear with respect to temperature and current), and the varistor (a non-linear resistor with respect to voltage). These devices, the materials from which they are fabricated

Abstract Two types of composite glass are of current interest as non-linear materials. One is glass doped with semiconductor microcrystallites. Their non-linearities mainly originate from quantum confinement and band filling effects and now are on the order of 106 esu as a result of the progress in new glass fabrication technologies.

Non-linear optical materials and applications
Materials Science Reports, 1993Abstract A review is given of the present status of the non-linear optical materials and devices, and their applications for optical signal processing and computing. The primary motivation behind this review is to introduce the different areas involved, paying special attention to their interfaces.

Optically non-linear organic materials
Optics & Laser Technology, 1981Abstract A large number of non-linear organic materials have been investigated by second-harmonic generation (SHG) in powders. The materials studied include several urea derivatives, sterically perturbed anilines and pyridines, and substituted stilbenes.
