Utilizing Material Requirements Planning and Distribution Requirements Planning for Materials/Logistics Management

1995
Material requirements planning (MRP) and distribution requirements planning (DRP) have been two of the most significant developments in materials/logistics management control during the past several decades. Other scheduling and control concepts and methods now being developed are based on these systems.

Fuzzy Material Requirement Planning

2010
In this paper, we mainly discuss the convenience of incorporating fuzziness into material requirement planning (MRP) systems. Then, we formulate a MRP model in fuzziness environments. Customer demands and capacity data are assumed to be fuzzy, which is more appropriate in this model.

Hierarchical material requirements planning

International Journal of Production Research, 1981
Abstract This paper reports on a simulation study of hierarchical planning methods, which can be utilized in connection with material requirements planning. The company considered produces one final product having a complex structure. The factory is functionally organized. Two different cases have been studied.

Materials requirement planning with a microcomputer

Computers & Industrial Engineering, 1985
Abstract Materials requirement planning (MRP) has been implemented on equipment ranging from early EAM punchcard equipment to the largest mainframe computers. The availability of relatively capable microcomputers raises the possibility of MRP systems for small operations. A major obstacle is that the concepts underlying most MRP systems are such that

Determining Net Requirements for Material Requirements Planning

Journal of the Operational Research Society, 1991
This paper presents a design guideline for netting systems that determine net requirements, for push-type production ordering. Two alternative netting systems (full and single) are formulated in an N stage production and inventory system. The performances of the two alternatives are discussed through numerically analysing production ordering variations

Material requirements planning with flexible bills-of-material

International Journal of Production Research, 2006
In conventional Material Requirements Planning (MRP), a Bills-of-Materials (BOM) for products is fixed. If time or quantity as stated in the Master Production Schedule (MPS) is not flexible for the final product, flexible BOM may be introduced to compensate for the inflexibility in the MPS.

Desktop Material Requirements Planning

Industrial Management & Data Systems, 1984
This article discusses the application of MRP on a microcomputer using the very popular electronic spreadsheet software. The illustration may be more of a managerial exercise than a true real world application, but illustrates the potential of this type of analysis. In fact, in smaller business organisations, on‐going practical planning using MRP could

MRP: Material Requirements Planning

2012
The first application systems for manufacturing companies in the 1960s were systems for material requirements planning (MRP). Even though the roots of MRP are fairly old, most of the MRP functionality is still available in today’s ERP systems. In this chapter, the master data for MRP are described, followed by an explanation of the main functional ...

Production and Material Requirements Planning

2016
In this chapter, the sales and operation planning (S&OP) concept is presented. It starts with an introductory case-study considering sales and operation planning at a petrochemistry company. At the beginning, different planning horizons and the role of aggregate planning are discussed.

Material requirements planning: a better way to plan material.

Hospital materiel management quarterly, 1990
MRP systems can benefit hospitals in their management of material. Systems provide the means to schedule surgical procedures, calculate material requirements, release orders, plan future capacity requirements, and release and track work orders. MRP can be a powerful tool if properly implemented.
