High and dry: Environmental conditions drive opportunities for disease transmission in desert bighorn sheep

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 7, July 2026.
By using probabilistic models to predict contacts as a function of spatially and temporally varying environmental conditions, we show that population‐level conditions at the time of disease introduction can structure opportunities for transmission within each population.

Transmission electron microscopy with in situ ion irradiation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The macroscopic properties of materials exposed to irradiation are determined by radiation damage effects which occur on the nanoscale. These phenomena are complex dynamic processes in which many competing mechanisms contribute to the evolution of the ...

Effect of the calcinations temperatures of phosphate washing waste on the structural and mechanical properties of geopolymeric mortar

open access: yesConstruction and Building Materials, 2018
The phosphate industry is facing serious environmental problems. This issue is caused by the waste after the extraction of the phosphate ore. The waste termed as phosphate washing waste (PWW) was filtered and dried at 105 °C for 24 h to remove the water.

Linear Contraction Behavior of Low-Carbon, Low-Alloy Steels During and After Solidification Using Real-Time Measurements [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
A technique for measuring the linear contraction during and after solidification of low-alloy steel was developed and used for examination of two commercial low-carbon and low-alloy steel grades.

Effect of freeze-thaw cycles on the mechanical behavior of geopolymer concrete and Portland cement concrete containing micro-encapsulated phase change materials

open access: yesConstruction and Building Materials, 2019
The effect of frost conditions on the physical and mechanical properties of geopolymer concrete (GPC) and Portland cement concrete (PCC) containing two different micro-encapsulated phase change materials (MPCM) was examined.
