Characterization of bioacceptable carbon materials

Clinical Materials, 1990
Bioacceptable carbon films deposited with a new low temperature technique have been investigated using Raman and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Our results reveal a substantial similarity between the low temperature deposited film and the well-known bioacceptable low temperature isotropic (LTI) pyrocarbon.

Materials Characterization

1986
Volume 10 addresses materials characterization from an engineering perspective, describing the capabilities and limitations of various analytical tools and what they reveal about the composition, structure, and state of engineering materials. It examines optical metallography, electron microscopy, diffraction, chromatography, spectroscopy, and chemical

Characterization of Materials II

1992
The characterization of materials is an important step to be taken before utilizing the materials for any purpose. Depending on the purpose, one can subject the material to mechanical, thermal, chemical, optical, electrical, and other characterizations to make sure that the material under consideration can function without failure for the life of the ...

Materials Characterization

2008
This book covers state-of-the-art techniques commonly used in modern materials characterization. Two important aspects of characterization, materials structures and chemical analysis, are included. Widely used techniques, such as metallography (light microscopy), X-ray diffraction, transmission and scanning electron microscopy, are described.

Balloon material characterization

7th Aerodynamic Decelerator and Balloon Technology Conference, 1981
Experimental data are reviewed to study the state of stress and strain in a typical balloon fabricated from thin polyethylene film. Relaxation tests are conducted over a temperature range of -60 C to 140 C for a constant strain of 1%, and loads measured with the load cell are converted to values of the relaxation modulus.

Characterizing Material Response

2021
All materials depending upon their type and the microstructure respond differently under external loading conditions. A precise and accurate determination of the resultant material properties, therefore, is the first important step in the material selection process and their subsequent efficient utilization in construction projects.

Ultrasonic materials characterization

NDT International, 1987
Abstract The National NDT Centre at Harwell has been developing methods for the characterization of materials using ultrasonics. This paper reviews the progress made in applying ultrasonic attenuation measurements to the determination of such quantities as grain size and dislocation content.

Archaeometallurgical Materials Characterization

AM&P Technical Articles
Abstract This article summarizes the more common analytical techniques for studying ancient metal artifacts, illustrated by case histories. There are two main classifications: noninvasive and invasive techniques. This distinction is of prime importance because some heritage objects may be too rare or valuable for invasive sampling, or
