Characterization of Nanoporous Materials

Annual Review of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, 2021
Detailed analysis of textural properties, e.g., pore size and connectivity, of nanoporous materials is essential to identify correlations of these properties with the performance of gas storage, separation, and catalysis processes. The advances in developing nanoporous materials with uniform, tailor-made pore structures, including the introduction of ...

Characterization of Materials II

1992
The characterization of materials is an important step to be taken before utilizing the materials for any purpose. Depending on the purpose, one can subject the material to mechanical, thermal, chemical, optical, electrical, and other characterizations to make sure that the material under consideration can function without failure for the life of the ...

Characterization of bioacceptable carbon materials

Clinical Materials, 1990
Bioacceptable carbon films deposited with a new low temperature technique have been investigated using Raman and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Our results reveal a substantial similarity between the low temperature deposited film and the well-known bioacceptable low temperature isotropic (LTI) pyrocarbon.

Characterization of Cosmic Materials in the Laboratory

Space Science Reviews, 1999
One of the main objectives of modern astrophysics is the characterisation of properties and evolution of materials present in space. Production, processing and analysis of cosmic dust analogues in the laboratory represents a powerful tool to interpret astronomical observations and to contribute to the solution of puzzling problems which are so far ...

The characterization of materials

1995
Determination of the structural character of a material, whether massive in form or particulate, crystalline or glassy, is a central activity of materials science. The general approach adopted in most techniques is to probe the material with a beam of radiation or high-energy particles.

SOI Materials Characterization [PDF]

open access: possible, 1991
Once Silicon-On-Insulator material has been produced, it is important to characterize it in terms of quality. The most critical parameters are the defect density, the thickness of both the top silicon layer and the buried insulator, the concentration of impurities, the carrier lifetime, and the quality of the silicon-insulator interfaces.
