A Highly D‑efficient Spring Balance Weighing Design for an Even Number of Objects

open access: yesActa Universitatis Lodziensis. Folia Oeconomica, 2019
The problem of determining unknown measurements of objects in the model of spring balance weighing designs is presented. These designs are considered under the assumption that experimental errors are uncorrelated and that they have the same variances ...

Synchrotron Radiation for Quantum Technology

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Materials and interfaces underpin quantum technologies, with synchrotron and FEL methods key to understanding and optimizing them. Advances span superconducting and semiconducting qubits, 2D materials, and topological systems, where strain, defects, and interfaces govern performance.

Analysis of the Impact of Turn Signal Usage at Roundabouts on CO Emissions and Traffic Flows

open access: yesEnergies
In contemporary times, one of the challenges in road traffic is the failure of drivers to adhere to traffic regulations. While the use of turn signals may seem trivial, the studies presented in this article demonstrate the significant impact that this ...

Uniform Workload Distribution Problems

open access: yesCommunications, 2016
In this paper we review common studies from the years 1984-2015 of problems occurring in uniform scheduling of workload distributions. These problems were formulated first by Pesko in dealing with the practical problem of regular scheduling of service ...

Enhancing Low‐Temperature Performance of Sodium‐Ion Batteries via Anion‐Solvent Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DOL is introduced into electrolytes as a co‐solvent, increasing slat solubility, ion conductivity, and the de‐solvent process, and forming an anion‐rich solvent shell due to its high interaction with anion. With the above virtues, the batteries using this electrolyte exhibit excellent cycling stability at low temperatures. Abstract Sodium‐ion batteries

Complete almost ideal demand system approach to the Czech alcohol demand

open access: yesAgricultural Economics (AGRICECON), 2010
Tax interventions into alcohol beverages market are an important and recently discussed tool of the Czech fiscal policy. The impact of any such measure would be strongly dependent on the microeconomic behavior of the consumers.

Enhancing CoFe Catalysts with V2CTX MXene‐Derived Materials for Anion Exchange Membrane Electrolyzers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
MXene dervied CoFe composites show increased initial Oxygen Evolution Reaction (OER) activity compared to the pure CoFe and MXene in an Anion Exchange Membrane device. Vanadium vacancies in the MXene plays a role in increased OER activity and hinders Fe leaching in the AEM device over using the pure V2C MXene as a support material for the CoFe ...

Pentagonal 2D Altermagnets: Material Screening and Altermagnetic Tunneling Junction Device Application

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
From a database of 170 pentagonal 2D materials, 4 candidates exhibiting altermagnetic ordering are screened. Furthermore, the spin‐splitting and unconventional boundary states in the pentagonal 2D altermagnetic monolayer MnS2 are investigated. A MnS2‐based altermagnetic tunneling junction is designed and, through ab initio quantum transport simulations,

Microtubule flexibility, microtubule-based nucleation and ROP pattern co-alignment enhance protoxylem microtubule patterning

open access: yesQuantitative Plant Biology
The development of the water transporting xylem tissue in plants involves an intricate interplay of Rho-of-Plants (ROP) proteins and cortical microtubules to generate highly functional secondary cell wall patterns, such as the ringed or spiral patterns ...
