MATHEMATICAL MORPHOLOGY IN THE CIELAB SPACE
The use of mathematical morphology in the CIE L*a*b* colour space is discussed. It is possible to impose a total order on the colour vectors in this space by using a weighting function and lexicographical order.

ROAD SEGMENTATION ON LOW RESOLUTION LIDAR POINT CLOUDS FOR AUTONOMOUS VEHICLES [PDF]
Point cloud datasets for perception tasks in the context of autonomous driving often rely on high resolution 64-layer Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) scanners.

Cell counting is an important step in many biological experiments. It can be challenging, due to the large variability in contrast and shape of the cells, especially when their density is so high that the cells are closely packed together.

A Bayesian Approach to Morphological Models Characterization
Morphological models are commonly used to describe microstructures observed in heterogeneous materials. Usually, these models depend upon a set of parameters that must be chosen carefully to match experimental observations conducted on the microstructure.

Paris-CARLA-3D: A Real and Synthetic Outdoor Point Cloud Dataset for Challenging Tasks in 3D Mapping
Paris-CARLA-3D is a dataset of several dense colored point clouds of outdoor environments built by a mobile LiDAR and camera system. The data are composed of two sets with synthetic data from the open source CARLA simulator (700 million points) and real ...

Mathematical morphology on directional data
Abstract We define morphological operators and filters for directional images whose pixel values are unit vectors. This requires an ordering relation for unit vectors which is obtained by using depth functions. They provide a centre-outward ordering with respect to a specified centre vector.

As special aggregation functions, overlap functions have been widely used in the soft computing field. In this work, with the aid of overlap functions, two new groups of fuzzy mathematical morphology (FMM) operators were proposed and applied to image ...

MORPHOLOGICAL MODELING OF COLD SPRAY COATINGS
In this article, we study the microstructure of cold sprayed films of copper particles deposited onto a carbon fiber reinforced polymer. The microstructure of the coating is made of a packing of seemingly round-shaped particles of varying sizes embedded ...

A 2.5D APPROACH TO SKIN WRINKLES SEGMENTATION
Wrinkles or creases are common structures on surfaces. Their detection is often challenging, and can be an important step for many different applications. For instance, skin wrinkle segmentation is a crucial step for quantifying changes in skin wrinkling
