Mathematical Construct for Program Reorganization

IBM Journal of Research and Development, 1975
A mathematical formalism is described through which a program is given a symbolic representation and, with the applihation of several basic formulas, may be transformed into an equivalent representation giving rise to a reorganized program. Examples are given in which programs are simplified (e.g., code is reduced) or reorganized into a structured form.

History of Mathematical Programming Systems

IEEE Annals of the History of Computing, 1978
The systematic development of practical computing methods for linear programming (LP) began in 1952 at the Rand Corporation in Santa Monica, under the direction of George B. Dantzig. The author worked intensively on this project there until late 1956, by which time great progress had been made on first-generation computers.

Rapid Mathematical Programming

2005

Solving Bicriterion Mathematical Programs

Operations Research, 1967
It often happens in applications of mathematical programming that there are two incommensurate objective functions to be extremized, rather than just one. One thus encounters bicriterion programs of the form of equation (1), [Formula: see text] where h is an increasing utility function, preferably quasiconcave, defined on outcomes of the concave ...

Mathematical Programming - a publication of the mathematical programming society

1997
This volume features twenty-one invited lectures presented at ismp97, the 16th International Symposium on Mathematical Programming, Lausanne EPFL. They reflect the unbroken vitality, creativity, and cross-disciplinarity that have characterized Mathematical Programming ever since its inception. The papers highlight many exciting recent developments both

Interactive programming and automated mathematics

Symposium on Interactive Systems for Experimental Applied Mathematics on Proceedings of the Association for Computing Machinery Inc. Symposium -, 1967
The theme of these symposium proceedings is Interactive Systems for Experimental Applied Mathematics. Certainly, there can be little confusion about the basic meaning or broad fundamentals of applied mathematics. However, questions as to the value of the experimental approach toward mathematics are an entirely different matter. The present state-of-the-
