Flow properties of suspensions rich in solids [PDF]

open access: yes, 1969
Mathematical evaluation of flow properties of fluids carrying high concentrations of solids in suspension relates suspension viscosity to physical properties of the solids and liquids, and provides a means for predicting flow behavior.

Sustainable Synthesis of Bio‐Based Magnetic and Conductive Wood for Electromagnetic Interference Shielding Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A wood‐based magnetic and conductive material called Magwood (MW), capable of blocking almost 99.99% of electromagnetic waves (in the X‐band frequency range), is synthesized using a simple, solvent‐free process. MW is lightweight, resists water, and is flame‐retardant, making it a promising alternative for shielding electronics. The rapid proliferation

Thermomechanical Process Simulation to Predict Processing of Mechanical Properties of Alloys Al-Zn-Mg-Cu

open access: yesThe Annals of “Dunarea de Jos” University of Galati. Fascicle IX, Metallurgy and Materials Science, 2013
This paper presents how to perform simulation (prediction) mechanical properties of aluminum alloys of the system Al-Zn-Mg-Cu. Graphical interface that can predict the mechanical properties studied was performed using MATLAB software version 6.5 based on

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.

Qualitative properties of monotone linear parabolic operators

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations, 2008
When we construct mathematical or numerical models in order to solve a real-life problem, it is important to preserve the characteristic properties of the original process. The models have to possess the equivalents of these properties. Parabolic partial

Entropy Stable Finite Volume Approximations for Ideal Magnetohydrodynamics

open access: yes, 2017
This article serves as a summary outlining the mathematical entropy analysis of the ideal magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) equations. We select the ideal MHD equations as they are particularly useful for mathematically modeling a wide variety of magnetized ...

Properties of minimal mathematical expectations

open access: yesApplied Mathematics Letters, 2006
Let \(\mu>0\) be an arbitrarily fixed real and \(B\) a \(d\)-dimensional Brownian motion defined on a probability space \((\Omega,{\mathcal F},P)\). By \({\mathcal P}\) we denote the set of all probabilities \[ Q= \exp \Biggl\{\int_0^T\theta_t\,dB_t- \tfrac12\cdot \int_0^T| \theta_t|^2\,dt \Biggr\}\cdot P, \] where \(\theta\) runs all \(({\mathcal F ...

Formally verifying Ada programs which use real number types [PDF]

open access: yes
Formal verification is applied to programs which use real number arithmetic operations (mathematical programs). Formal verification of a program P consists of creating a mathematical model of F, stating the desired properties of P in a formal logical ...
