Biopolymer Membranes for Osmotic Power Generation in Bionic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review provides an overview of biopolymer‐based osmotic power generation for bionic applications. It uniquely bridges biopolymer membranes, reverse electrodialysis(RED), and bionic applications, addressing a critical research gap by integrating biopolymer membranes with RED technologies for biomedical use.

Mixed Ionic and Electronic Charge Transport in Conductive Protein Fibers Revealed with DC Electrical Measurements

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
M13 bacteriophage films deposited on micro interdigitated electrodes behave as a Randles simplified equivalent circuit under direct current. We derive contact and film resistance as well as capacitance of films of M13 phages, aromatic curli fibers or pilA‐containing nanowires.

Room‐Temperature Multiferroic Liquids: Ferroelectric and Ferromagnetic Order in a Hybrid Nanoparticle–Liquid Crystal System

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A hybrid fluid combining ferrimagnetic nanoplatelets and a ferroelectric nematic displays coexisting magnetization and polarisation at room temperature. This self‐assembled multiferroic shows strong magnetoelectric effect and nonlinear optical response, offering a soft, reconfigurable platform for next‐generation sensing, actuation, and photonic ...

Machine Learning‐Enhanced Modular Ionic Skin for Broad‐Spectrum Multimodal Discriminability in Bidirectional Human–Robot Interaction

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A machine learning‐enhanced modular ionic skin with broad‐spectrum multimodal sensing is realized through a synergistic material–algorithm optimization strategy. This strategy involves hard‐segment‐modulated 1D/2D/3D‐ionic conductors and a data‐driven decoupling model trained on a curated multi‐stimuli dataset.
